Tailored Care for Your Cat’s Unique Needs

Routine health care covers the essential, non-emergency services that keep your cat healthy at every stage of life. This includes vaccinations, parasite prevention, dental care, nutrition, grooming, and guidance on avoiding household hazards.

Why Regular Veterinary Care Matters

  • Kittens: Veterinary visits every 3–4 weeks until about 4 months of age help ensure proper growth and protection through vaccines and preventive care.
  • Adult cats: A complete veterinary examination at least once a year helps maintain overall health and detect concerns early.
  • Senior cats (7–8 years and older): More frequent visits—twice a year or as recommended—allow for early detection and management of age-related conditions.

Your veterinarian may also recommend routine wellness testing, such as bloodwork to screen for early signs of kidney or thyroid disease, so that treatment can begin before illness progresses.

Cryotherapy

Added to our services in 2017, cryotherapy is a safe and effective treatment that uses liquid nitrogen delivered through a small handheld device.

By gently “freezing” the targeted tissue, we can remove small lumps and bumps with little to no anesthesia—making the procedure less invasive and easier on your pet.

Diagnostic Laboratory Services

We offer a wide range of in-house laboratory testing, allowing us to provide same-day results for most services.

For certain specialized tests that require an outside laboratory, results are typically available within 24–72 hours. This ensures we can deliver timely, accurate information to support the best care for your pet.

Diagnostic Radiology

X-rays are a valuable diagnostic tool that allow us to examine the size and shape of internal organs and bones, as well as detect foreign objects your pet may have ingested. When needed, we can also use barium and other contrast agents to highlight specific areas for a more detailed evaluation.

With radiology, we are able to diagnose a wide range of conditions, including organ enlargement, tumors, bladder and kidney stones, fractures, arthritis, intervertebral disc disease, hip dysplasia, and more.

We are proud to offer full radiographic services at the following locations:

Each hospital is fully equipped to perform standard X-rays as well as contrast studies when indicated

Kitten Education

Welcoming a new kitten into your home is an exciting time! Our team is here to support you and provide guidance as your newest family member grows. During your kitten’s visits, we’ll cover important topics such as litter training, vaccination schedules, dental care, flea and tick control, heartworm prevention, and tips for making your home safe and comfortable for your new friend.

To help you get started, we also provide a kitten starter kit to take home after your first visit, filled with helpful resources to ensure your kitten receives the best possible care.

Laser Therapy

Our laser therapy unit provides a safe, non-invasive treatment option to support healing and comfort in pets. Using specific wavelengths of light in the red spectrum, the laser delivers energy to targeted tissues. This process stimulates blood flow, improves oxygenation, and encourages the release of ATP—the energy source cells use to repair and heal.

Most pets require multiple sessions for the best results, though many owners notice improvements as early as the first treatment. Laser therapy is a gentle way to reduce pain, promote healing, and enhance overall well-being.

Microchip Identification Service

We understand how heartbreaking it can be when a pet goes missing. To help increase the chances of a safe return, we recommend and offer microchipping—a simple, quick procedure in which a tiny chip is placed just under your pet’s skin.

Each microchip contains a unique identification number that can be read with a scanner, allowing lost pets to be reunited with their families. Without a microchip, it may be difficult for a lost pet to find their way home.

Ophthalmology

Eye health is an important part of your pet’s overall well-being. Even subtle changes in the appearance of the eyes can be a sign of underlying health issues.

Our team offers comprehensive eye care, including glaucoma screening with tonometry (eye pressure testing), as well as detailed evaluation of the eyes and surrounding tissues using specialized equipment.

We can also perform additional tests to assess tear production and check the integrity of the cornea, ensuring your pet receives thorough and accurate care.

Orthopedic Services

Lameness and mobility issues are common concerns for pets. We provide comprehensive orthopedic evaluations and treatment on an outpatient basis, helping pets regain comfort and mobility.

When further assessment is needed, our Orrville Veterinary Clinic offers advanced diagnostic and surgical services, including:

  • Diagnostic X-rays to evaluate limbs, pelvis, and spine
  • Fracture repair, including intramedullary bone pinning
  • Femoral head ostectomy (FHO) for hip dysplasia
  • Cranial cruciate ligament repair (similar to ACL repair)
  • Wedge osteotomy for certain knee conditions in smaller breeds

We also provide OFA certification, a program designed to identify and reduce the incidence of hip and elbow dysplasia.

Each year, we perform numerous orthopedic examinations, helping pets of all ages move comfortably and maintain a high quality of life.

Parasite Control

Cats can be affected by a variety of internal and external parasites. Our clinic uses the latest medications, treatments, and preventative options to keep your cat healthy and protected.

Internal parasites include heartworms, hookworms, roundworms, whipworms, tapeworms, Giardia, and Coccidia. Each parasite is specifically treated after diagnosis by one of our veterinarians.

External parasites include fleas, ticks, ear mites, sarcoptic mange, and demodex mites. These parasites can be prevented and controlled through a range of safe and effective products. Beyond the direct effects of these pests, some can also carry or cause serious diseases, such as Lyme disease, making prevention an essential part of your cat’s healthcare.

Pharmacy and Prescription Services

Medications are often an essential part of providing the best care for your pet. Our in-house pharmacy allows us to customize treatments to meet your pet’s specific needs.

If a medication is not available at our clinic, we can quickly order it, have it shipped directly to your home, or provide a prescription for your preferred pharmacy—ensuring your pet receives the care they need without delay.

Physical Examinations

Regular physical examinations are a cornerstone of quality pet care. Because pets age more quickly than humans, they benefit from more frequent check-ups than once a year.

At each visit, we perform a thorough examination before any procedures or treatments, allowing us to detect many conditions early—often before noticeable symptoms appear. Even small concerns can sometimes indicate larger underlying health issues.

In addition to general exams, we offer specialized evaluations, including ocular (eye) exams, orthopedic assessments, neurological exams, external parasite checks, and more, ensuring your pet receives comprehensive and proactive care.

Preventative Health Care

Preventative care is about much more than vaccinations. Our team is dedicated to educating pet owners on proper vaccination schedules, heartworm prevention, nutrition, and weight management.

By focusing on proactive health care, we help ensure your pet enjoys a long, healthy, and happy life.

Referral Service

Sometimes a pet requires the expertise of a veterinary specialist. Specialists are certified and trained in specific areas of medicine or surgery, providing advanced care beyond general practice.

We work closely with several referral institutions that offer specialized services, including internal medicine, neurology, ophthalmology, surgery, dermatology, radiology, ultrasonography, cardiology, and oncology. This collaborative approach ensures your pet has access to the highest level of care when needed.

Senior Wellness Program

Pets are considered seniors around age seven—and sometimes earlier for cats. During these years, their health can change quickly, making early disease detection essential for maintaining quality of life.

Frequent testing allows us to identify potential health issues as early as possible. Recommended evaluations may include a complete blood count, blood chemistry profile, urinalysis, fecal examinations, EKG, and glaucoma screening. Additional tests may be suggested based on your pet’s individual needs, ensuring a personalized approach to senior care.

Surgical Services

At Veterinary Wellness Partners, we provide both in-office procedures and comprehensive outpatient surgical care.

Our main locations feature fully equipped surgical suites, allowing us to perform a wide range of procedures, including:

  • Spay and neuter
  • Tumor removal and biopsies
  • Ocular (eye) surgery
  • Cesarean sections
  • Abdominal and soft tissue surgery
  • Orthopedic procedures

We are proud to be among the more progressive surgical practices in the area, offering specialized procedures such as anal gland removal and other delicate soft tissue surgeries. Our goal is to provide safe, precise, and compassionate surgical care tailored to each pet’s needs.

Ultrasonography

Ultrasound is a versatile diagnostic tool that goes far beyond detecting pregnancy. Using sound waves, we can visualize internal structures and assess the liver, kidneys, bladder, and other organs—sometimes revealing details that are not visible on standard X-rays.

Our state-of-the-art ultrasound equipment allows us to examine even small tissues and organs with precision. Ultrasound can also be used for guided procedures, such as obtaining biopsies from tumors or collecting urine samples directly from the bladder, providing safe and minimally invasive options for accurate diagnosis.

Vaccination Services

While wellness care includes many aspects of health, vaccinations remain one of the most effective ways to protect your cat from serious diseases. We carefully select vaccines from trusted providers to ensure both safety and effectiveness, and we follow the latest vaccination guidelines, including those published by the American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA).

Recommended vaccinations for cats include:

  • RCP (Rhinotracheitis, Calicivirus, Panleukopenia)
  • Feline Leukemia
  • Rabies

By keeping your cat up to date on vaccines, you are helping provide one of the best defenses for a long, healthy life.
